June 2018 Update

Another school year is in the books! It was a busy semester full of commuting, but there were many great moments along the way. Many of my college and high school students reached new milestones and performed very well in concerts throughout the year. At UWM we also hosted Bob Becker in March, which was a lot of fun! Other teaching engagements included a day of masterclasses at Arrowhead High School, a week-long residency in Cottonwood, Arizona through the Henderson Foundation, and teaching steel pans and drumset at the Waubonsie Valley Summer Percussion Camp (picture below).

For performances, I traveled to Ohio and San Jose for more performances of Journey LIVE with Fifth House Ensemble in February and April respectively. I also joined my percussion students and Tom Wetzel in performing on the Spring UWM Percussion Ensemble concert for a couple pieces, including performing the solo part of the second movement of the Creston marimba concerto. Finally, I performed two solo works as part of a house concert program at a Milwaukee art studio. That was a great opportunity to meet many types of artists in the Milwaukee community and see some other wonderful music. The picture above is from one of my practice sessions in the lovely Zelazo building at UWM.
